Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day
On Sunday 10th November, the Remembrance parade took place through the High Street before a service in St James' Church, led by Reverend Nolan Robson. At 11am, Thrapston fell silent as we honoured and remembered the fallen from the British Armed Forces involved in the two World Wars and all conflicts since.
On Monday 11th November, representatives from Thrapston Town Council, North Northamptonshire Council and the Royal British Legion, as well as local MP Lee Barron, laid wreaths at the stone memorial in Coronation Gardens. The community gathered in Coronation Gardens to commemorate the national silence at 11am. Thrapston Town Band's bugler player sounded the Last Post & Rouse, before the names of the fallen were read out.
Once the service concluded, Chairman of the Thrapston and District Royal British Legion, Matthew Ellmer, led the Walk of Remembrance up to the cemetery to lay crosses on the graves of the war dead along with Year 6 pupils from Thrapston Primary School.
